This time freeze AI video prompt makes a 20-second scene with a karma ending. A couple sits on a sunny café terrace in Italy. She says “I love you”. He says “Love you too, babe” and keeps texting another woman under the table.

The woman at the table behind him sees the message. She snaps her fingers and the whole terrace stops. Birds hang in the air. She takes his phone, puts it in his girlfriend’s hands and goes back to her seat. One more snap, and time runs again. The girlfriend reads the message, and he gets her coffee in his face.

You need two pictures: a character sheet of the woman who stops time, and a picture of the phone screen. The video prompt does the rest.

The whole process

  1. Make a character sheet of the woman who stops time.
  2. Make a phone screen picture with the cheating message.
  3. Open ImagineArt, go to video and pick Seedance 2.5.
  4. Add the sheet as @Image1 and the phone as @Image2.
  5. Set 20 seconds and 9:16. Paste the video prompt and generate.

What happens in 20 seconds

This is what we got, not only what the prompt asks for.

TimeWhat happens
0–4sThe couple talks in front. She sits behind them, a little out of focus, with a coffee
4–6sHer view of his phone. The message from “Sophie” is easy to read
6–8sClose on her face. She raises an eyebrow and snaps her fingers
8–10sA shockwave goes over the terrace. Pigeons and napkins stop in the air
10–12.5sShe stands at their table. Close on her hand putting the phone in the girlfriend’s hand
12.5–14sShe is back in her seat. Time runs again and the pigeons fly on
14–17sThe girlfriend reads. Her smile goes, then shock, then anger
17–18.5sHe looks scared. She stands up and throws her coffee in his face
18.5–20sThe woman walks away. Behind her, he sits wet and holds his cheek
01

Make the character sheet

The woman who stops time is in the video from start to end. You see her from far away, close up, sitting, standing and walking. One selfie is not enough for that. A character sheet shows the model her face and her outfit from every side.

If you do not have one yet, use the character sheet prompt from our fit check video prompt. It makes a sheet from two pictures: a face photo and an outfit photo.

A character sheet of a woman with long wavy hair, dark red at the roots fading to bright orange, and green eyes. A large portrait on the left, three full body views in a dark green cropped tank top, wide black jeans and white sneakers, two side portraits on the right, and small tiles below for the eye, lips, hair, gold earring, gold watch, fabric and shoes.
@Image1 The character sheet: face, full body from three sides, detail tiles
02

Make the phone screen

The model is bad at writing text on a screen by itself. So give it a picture where the text is already right.

The picture should look like this one. It is a view from above and behind the boyfriend. You see his hands, his denim jacket and his phone. On the screen is one chat with “Sophie” and one blue message: “Miss you. Tonight at mine?” The café table with a coffee and a croissant is at the top.

A view from above and behind a man in a denim jacket and white t-shirt. He holds a phone in both hands. The screen shows a chat with a contact called Sophie and a blue message bubble that reads Miss you. Tonight at mine? with a kiss emoji. A marble café table with a cappuccino and a croissant is at the top of the picture.
@Image2 The phone screen, seen over the boyfriend's shoulder

Keep the message short. One line with a few words is easy to read in a video. A long message is harder to read and easier to get wrong.

Add the character sheet as @Image1 and the phone picture as @Image2. Set the length to 20 seconds and the shape to 9:16. Paste the prompt below.

The prompt never describes her face or clothes. It only says that @Image1 is the main character. So it works with your own sheet as it is.

Time freeze cheater: Seedance 2.5, 20 seconds

[LOOK — LOCKED, APPLIES TO EVERY SHOT] Arri Alexa Mini, natural organic film-like texture with fine grain. 50mm lens, shallow depth of field. Warm late-afternoon Italian sunlight with hard, crisp shadows, warm skin tones, bright highlights that roll off smoothly. The light and time of day never change. Ultra-realistic live action, believable human performances, detailed faces and realistic hands. Nobody ever looks into the camera.

[LOCATION — LOCKED, ONE SINGLE OUTDOOR LOCATION FOR THE WHOLE VIDEO] One outdoor café terrace on a narrow cobblestone street in an Italian old town, cream canvas awnings, small round marble tables with brass edges, woven bistro chairs. Every shot, including every close-up, happens outdoors at this same terrace.

[SPATIAL LAYOUT — LOCKED] The camera’s main angle faces the couple’s table. The girlfriend sits on the left, the boyfriend on the right, facing each other in profile. Directly behind the boyfriend’s back, about one metre deeper into the frame, the main character sits alone at her own small table, facing the camera. From her seat she looks down over the boyfriend’s shoulder onto the phone in his lap.

[References] The main character corresponds to @Image1. @Image1 is a character sheet of one single woman: use only her face, hairstyle, body type and outfit, exactly as shown. Do not use the sheet’s background, layout, labels or multiple poses. The main character appears only once in every frame — no duplicates, no other woman with her hair colour. @Image2 defines the phone insert shot: the exact phone screen content (messaging app, contact “Sophie 💋”, blue bubble “Miss you. Tonight at mine? 😘”), the high over-the-shoulder framing, the boyfriend’s hands, his denim jacket and white t-shirt, and the table setting. Reproduce the screen text exactly as in @Image2. Use @Image2 only for the phone insert, not for any other shot’s framing.

[Characters] Girlfriend: young woman, long dark brown hair, white sundress. Boyfriend: young man in the white t-shirt and unbuttoned denim jacket from @Image2.

[Generation Goal] Generate a 20-second ultra-realistic time-freeze short film with a karma twist. A couple talks in the foreground; behind them sits the main character. She sees the boyfriend texting another woman, freezes time with a finger snap, puts his phone into the girlfriend’s hands, returns to her seat, unfreezes time, and watches the girlfriend punish him.

[Stage 1 — 0–3.5 seconds] Initial state: the main angle. The couple in the foreground in sharp focus, cappuccinos and croissants on their table. The main character in the background behind the boyfriend, in soft focus, sipping her cappuccino. Primary event: Dialogue language: American English. The girlfriend looks at him with a soft, warm smile and says sincerely: {I love you.} The boyfriend smiles without warmth in his eyes and answers casually: {Love you too, babe.} His phone rests low in his lap, his thumb typing. End state: the couple still smiling at each other.

[Stage 2 — 3.5–5 seconds] Continue from the previous stage: same main angle, same positions. Primary event: rack focus — focus shifts smoothly from the couple to the main character behind them. The couple blurs, her face becomes sharp. She lowers her eyes and looks down over the boyfriend’s shoulder at his lap. End state: the main character in sharp focus, eyes on his phone.

[Stage 3 — 5–6.5 seconds] Primary event: her point of view — the high over-the-shoulder phone shot exactly as in @Image2. Locked camera. His thumb types; the screen stays sharp and legible. End state: the message fully visible on screen.

[Stage 4 — 6.5–8 seconds] Primary event: close-up of the main character at her table, looking at the boyfriend, not at the camera. One eyebrow slowly rises, her eyes narrow, her lips press into a cold half-smile. She sets her cup down, raises her right hand and snaps her fingers. End state: her hand raised just after the snap.

[Stage 5 — 8–10 seconds] Primary event: a clearly visible translucent white spherical shockwave bursts from her fingertips, bending the air and refracting the sunlight, and rolls outward across the whole terrace. Wide shot: everything freezes in place — the couple mid-smile, a waiter mid-step pouring coffee with the stream frozen in the air, a pigeon locked mid-flight under the awning, a napkin frozen mid-fall. Absolute silence. Tiny shimmering particles hang in the sunlight. End state: the entire terrace frozen; only the main character can move.

[Stage 6 — 10–13 seconds] Continue from the previous stage: the world stays fully frozen. Primary event: the main character stands, steps to the couple’s table and slides the phone out of the boyfriend’s frozen hands. Insert close-up: her hand places the phone screen-up into the girlfriend’s open palms and gently folds her frozen fingers around it. She slides the girlfriend’s full cappuccino next to her right hand, walks back and sits down at her own table. End state: the phone in the girlfriend’s hands, the full cappuccino beside her, the boyfriend’s hands empty, the main character seated behind him again.

[Stage 7 — 13–14 seconds] Primary event: the main angle again, exactly as in Stage 1 — the frozen couple in the foreground, the main character behind the boyfriend. She snaps her fingers; a reverse shockwave ripples outward. The waiter’s coffee lands in the cup, the pigeon flies on, café noise rushes back. End state: time flows; the main character sips her coffee like an innocent stranger.

[Stage 8 — 14–16.5 seconds] Primary event: close-up on the girlfriend, outdoors at the same terrace. The emotion shifts from tenderness to fury. She notices the phone in her hands, her smile freezes, brows draw together. Her eyes move left to right as she reads, her lips part, her breath catches, her eyes go glassy with hurt, then her jaw tightens and her gaze lifts to him. Cut to the boyfriend, outdoors at the same terrace: his face goes pale, eyes wide in panic. He says fast and nervous: {Babe, I can explain—} End state: she grips her full cappuccino.

[Stage 9 — 16.5–18.5 seconds] Primary event: main angle, medium two-shot. First, still seated, she throws her cappuccino into his face — foam splashes over his hair and denim jacket. Second, she stands up and slaps him hard: her open palm clearly hits his cheek on screen, his head snaps sideways. Nearby guests gasp and turn. Behind them, the main character watches calmly. End state: the girlfriend standing over him, the boyfriend dripping with coffee, holding his cheek.

[Stage 10 — 18.5–20 seconds] Primary event: the main character calmly stands, leaves a coin on her table, and walks past the couple’s table along the terrace with a quiet, satisfied smile, looking ahead, not at the camera. The camera tracks backward in front of her. End state: in soft focus behind her, the boyfriend sits stunned and soaked. Hold this shot until the very last frame.

[Audio] <café chatter, cup clinks, soft phone typing taps> → <sharp finger snap, deep low-frequency shockwave rumble> → <absolute silence, only her footsteps on stone and a chair scrape> → <second snap, reverse rumble, café noise rushing back> → <coffee splash, loud slap, guests gasping> → <her calm footsteps>. No background music.

[Maintain Consistency] Same single outdoor café terrace, same tables, same late-afternoon sunlight in every shot. The main character always sits directly behind the boyfriend’s back. Her identity and outfit from @Image1 in every shot; the boyfriend’s outfit from @Image2 in every shot. Exactly one main character, one girlfriend, one boyfriend. The phone passes from the boyfriend to the girlfriend in Stage 6 and stays with her. Nobody looks into the camera.

@Image1 is the character sheet. @Image2 is the phone screen. Set 20 seconds and 9:16.

Why this prompt works

The look, the place and the seating are locked at the top. Each has its own block. Without them, the model changed the street and the time of day between shots in our first try.

The woman comes in through a focus change. First the couple is sharp. Then the focus moves to her. The viewer learns who she is before she does anything.

The phone shot is her point of view. Because she sits behind him, the view over his shoulder makes sense. It also matches the phone picture.

She goes back to her seat before the second snap, so when time runs again she is just a stranger with a coffee. The joke of the ending depends on that.

The girlfriend’s face is written as small steps. Her smile freezes, her eyes move as she reads, her breath catches, then her jaw gets tight. The model can show each of these. “She gets angry” alone gives a flat face.

How to make it better

Ten stages in 20 seconds is a lot, and the model left a few things out of our video. Here is what we would change next time.

What we gotWhat to try
The slap is not shown. We only see him holding his cheek afterMake the video 25 seconds and give the coffee and the slap their own stages
The second snap is hard to seeGive Stage 7 two seconds and add a close shot of her hand
She looks into the camera in the close-upKeep “Nobody ever looks into the camera”. Add “she looks at the boyfriend” to Stage 4
His close-up looks like it is insideKeep “outdoors at the same terrace” in that line. Add “awning and street behind him”
Some stages get lostMake two 10-second videos. The first ends with the freeze. The second starts from its last frame

Before you spend credits on the full video, try the prompt at 480p first. It costs much less and shows you if the stages land in the right order.

Questions people ask

Which AI model makes this time freeze video?

We used Seedance 2.5 on ImagineArt+200 free credits. It takes several reference pictures and makes up to 30 seconds in one go, with sound.

Can I put myself in it?

Yes. Make a character sheet from your own photo and add it as @Image1. The prompt does not describe her looks, so your sheet decides how you look.

Is it vertical?

Yes. We set 9:16 for Reels and TikTok.

Is the prompt free?

Yes, the prompt is free to copy. You pay ImagineArt credits to generate the video.

Why does the text on the phone come out wrong?

Video models are weak at text. Use a picture of the screen with the text already right, keep the message to one short line, and keep the line that says to reproduce the screen text exactly.
