These two models compete for the same job. You want a poster, a slide, a piece of packaging or a product card, and the words on it have to be spelled right. Both models do that, and both do it far better than the generation before them.
The real difference is what they surround that with. Nano Banana Pro carries Google’s knowledge of real things into the picture, so a diagram can be about something true. GPT Image 2.5 gives you more control at the edges: more input images, a mask, a transparent background, and almost any output size you ask for.

Two numbers on that table need a warning. The 16 input images is the limit for the whole GPT image family on the edits endpoint, not a figure OpenAI published for 2.5 on its own. And Google’s “up to 14 images” comes from its launch post, while its API page gives a lower count for objects held at high fidelity. If you need a hard limit, test it on the platform you are paying for.
How you write for each one
The two models want different shapes of prompt, and this is where most people lose time.
GPT Image 2.5 responds to labelled sections. Write the prompt as a small form rather than a paragraph. Scene, subject, details, style, constraints. Then put any literal words in quotes and say how they should look.
For an edit, name three things every time: what changes, what stays, what is banned. Repeat the “stays” list on every round, because a new instruction can quietly undo an old one.
Nano Banana Pro wants a description with an order to it. Subject first, then action, then place, then style, then camera and light. Earlier words carry more weight, so put the thing that matters most at the front.
For a Nano Banana Pro edit, say what must not change before you say what must.

One habit helps on both. Strip words like stunning, epic, 8K and award-winning. They do nothing and they push the output toward a generic look. Replace them with a fact. “Golden-hour light from the left” beats “beautiful lighting” every time.
Where to run each one
Of the five platforms on this site, OpenArt and Creatify both name GPT Image 2.5 and Nano Banana Pro. So either lets you run the same prompt through both and compare.
Figma Weave names Nano Banana Pro but not GPT Image 2.5. ImagineArt lists Nano Banana 2 rather than Pro, and lists GPT Image 2 rather than 2.5. Vosu names neither.
On Creatify, GPT Image 2.5 is a Pro plan model and Nano Banana Pro starts on Starter. So the cheapest route to a direct comparison of the two is OpenArt.
Remember that no platform publishes a full model list. A model missing from a pricing page may still be in the app.
What this comparison does not cover
I have not run the same brief through both models and judged the results. I have generated with Nano Banana Pro, on Figma Weave and on ImagineArt’s stablemate models, but never with GPT Image 2.5. So nothing here is a verdict on which one looks better.
It also cannot tell you which renders text more accurately in practice. Google publishes an error rate for single-line multilingual text. OpenAI publishes no comparable number, and warns in its own guide that placement and clarity can still fail. Two different kinds of statement cannot be scored against each other.
I could not verify the exact list of aspect ratios for Nano Banana Pro. Google publishes two different lists on two of its own pages and they do not match.
I could not verify a per-image price for either model. OpenAI charges by token and Google publishes no flat rate, so the real cost depends on your size and quality settings.
Questions
Which one is better for a poster with a lot of text?
Both are built for it. Nano Banana Pro has the stronger published claim, and it names multilingual text specifically. If your text is in one language and you also need a mask or a transparent background, GPT Image 2.5 gives you more to work with.
Can either one edit a photo I already have?
Yes, both. GPT Image 2.5 takes a mask so you can mark the exact area. Nano Banana Pro edits from your description, which is faster to write and less exact.
Does GPT Image 2.5 replace GPT Image 2?
It is newer, released in September 2026, and OpenAI documents lower latency than the previous model. Both still exist as separate model names, so a platform may carry one and not the other.
Will my images be marked as AI?
Nano Banana Pro outputs carry a SynthID watermark, and Google’s consumer tiers also add a visible mark. OpenAI documents no equivalent for GPT Image 2.5. Platform terms can add their own marks on top, so check the plan you buy.
Which is cheaper?
There is no honest answer from the published prices. OpenAI charges per token, Google does not publish a flat rate, and the platforms above resell both inside a credit pool without naming the cost of one generation.
